‹4 3› contrasts the bloody history of Jeju Island and her dreamlike scenery to depict the universal desire to “live”, which is a piece that musically expresses an observer as an outsider. If the first attempt, ‹[Island:Island]›(2018), was the process of observing and analyzing the traces of Jeju 4·3 as well as empathizing with the historical event, ‹4 3› portrays the personal tale of the musician SEAYOOL who still remains as an observer. 

‹4 3›은 제주라는 섬의 잔인한 역사와 꿈같은 풍광 사이에서 슬픔 속에 베어든 ‘생’의 욕구에 대한 외부인이자 관찰자로서의 음악적 표현의 결과물이다. 그 첫 시도, ‹[섬:섬]›(2018) 이 제주 4·3의 흔적을 관찰하고 바라보는 과정 속에서 역사적 사건의 이해와 공감의 과정을 담았다면 이번 ‹4 3›은 여전히 관찰자일 수밖에 없는 음악가 김시율의 개인적인 이야기이다.
